Pilegaard" class="jrMediaPhoto" align="right" /> This was to be my second NUSS procedure as first one (2011) produced minimal improvement .
This hospital is excellent with very professional staff who made me feel very welcome.
Hans explained the procedure and the probability of certain issues including chest rigidity and possible asymetry when the bars were inserted. Also there may be issues with scar tissue and adhesions from previous operations. In the event there was a good correction with a 50mm improvement with a small dent still appearing due to rigidity .
So Hans was honest and true to his word and gave me the best possible chance of a good outcome which I believe I have .
The recovery was smooth and uneventful with a chest drain in till day two Hans came to see me immediately after I came round and then at least once each day.I have nothing but praise for his honesty , professionalism and skill in my procedure and following recovery.I have no doubt in recommending him to perform the NUSS procedure .

Pilegaard" class="jrMediaPhoto" align="right" /> Prof. Pilegaard is maybe the best and most experienced there is. I had a first operation in Norway in december '14, by an unexperienced surgeon and got bad results. I then contacted Pilegaard, Who replied quickly. The communication was excellent and just a month after I was in Denmark, ready for the surgery. Both Pilegaard and the rest of the staff were incredible, understanding and did everything they could to make my stay as good as possible. Pilegaard met me before the surgery and we had a good talk. He's really experienced with around 1500 pectus surgeries, so he knew excactly what to do. The results were great, and he was willing to help me get the surgery covered, by writing some reasoning why I needed the second surgery. Nothing bad to say about this surgeon at all, and i would recommend him for everyone with Pectus excavatum - both children and adults. You won't find a better pectus surgeon!
