The hospital was clean and well organized, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I had an initial consultation in the spring of 2014 with Dr Tanja Anguseva, who is one of the loveliest people you could meet. I was asked a lot of questions to help the doctors understand my case and my aspirations. The checks made prior to surgery were very thorough and I was convinced of both the necessity of surgery, (I had a Haller index of 4) and of the safety of the procedure that would be carried out. My operation, to be performed by Dr Zan Mitrev using the Nuss procedure, was scheduled for August that year.
Dr Mitrev spoke to me in detail about the operation and the approach he would adopt. His outgoing persona and his positivity reassured me about the big step I was about to take. This was completely justified, as the operation went well first time and I recovered quickly. Post operation, the doctors and nurses in the intensive care unit were all fantasticlly supportive and the only criticism I can make is that they made me laugh so much, which was painful with the newly added bars! I look forward to every occasion I have to go back to visit them, having check ups roughly every six months.
