On February 20, I had a redo of my Nuss procedure. My previous Nuss procedure did not take place at the Mayo Clinic. The redo at Mayo went really well. All staff at Mayo were extremely helpful. Got into many pre-surgery appointments early because of very considerate staff. Nurses were very much on top of pain management. Although I had three bars in my chest, the cryoablation enabled me to walk upright and move my arms over my head by 24 hours post-surgery. As of the time of writing (July 2020), I have no restrictions in terms of movement or physical activity. I have been lifting weights (including weighted pull-ups and bench press) since mid-May.
In my previous surgery at a hospital that shall not be named, I couldn't sit up without severe nausea three days after surgery. I couldn't "void" for about three days until an "emergency catheter" was inserted into me. I stayed for about five nights at the hospital. And this was with only one bar.
At the Mayo Clinic, I didn't even recognize my chest post-surgery. Quite simply, where there was a dent before, there isn't now. I also left the hospital in approximately 48 hours, which is nice.
