I want to say thank you to Doctor Okusanya, he did the surgery for me. The surgery was very successful. It helps me no longer have difficulty breathing and it makes me feel healthier. For all pectus excavatum patients who still confuse and don't know what to do, I understand your feelings, I understand your fears. What you need to do is find a best doctor and a best hospital. Doctor Okusanya and Jefferson Hospital are the best place to help you. This is a long journey, it will take time but I have faith that after all, everything will be better. Once again, thank you Dr. O and his team at Jefferson, and Sung Whang, the best nurse practitioner I've ever known.

My daughter Madison recently had surgery with Dr. Okusanya in order to repair her pectus excavatum. Madison had started to have complications related to this condition that we never knew she even had. Maddie's deformity had become so bad that it had started to cause compression on her heart which caused her to have shortness of breath, heart palpitations, tachycardia, syncopal episodes, weakness and weight loss. After our local hospital had brushed off her symptoms reporting that there was "no way" these could be causing her symptoms we were able to see Dr. Okusanya. I cannot say enough kind words about the skill, empathy and compassion of this surgeon. Not only did he take the time to listen to us, no matter how much time we took, but he also reassured us that our concerns were valid. I watched my 20 year old scared daughter begin to feel at ease for the first time in the fact that someone was taking her seriously and not simply chalking her symptoms up to "anxiety". We were able to have surgery scheduled quickly for her and the whole time I was kept abreast of my daughters progress during surgery as well as post op. Being a medical practitioner myself when your child has to have surgery during a pandemic not being able to be by her side was very difficult. However, I never once doubted the capable hands my daughter was in. We are now two months post op and my daughter is doing wonderfully. ALL of her symptoms have resolved and she feels 100% better. Cosmetically her surgical scars are minimal. Words cannot describe how thankful we are for finding Dr. "O". He literally saved my daughters life and we will forever be thankful for the gifts that God has given this surgeon. If you are ever in a position to need surgery for yourself or a family member please know that you will receive the greatest of care and surgical skills.
