Mayo Clinic Hospital and Specialty Building are top notch facilities with talented and courteous staff. There testing is scheduled in a way that makes your visit as short as possible. I never waited more than 20 minutes for a scheduled test. All test results are quickly uploaded on the web for your review. The doctors that review the chest x-rays, ekg's, ct's etc...know exactly what to look for in pectus patients. They found findings in my testing that my local doctors did not.
Mayo Clinic Hospital is clean and there staff are well organized. My wife was kept well informed throughout the surgery and they have a digital board display with the status of your surgery, whether you are in pre-op, surgery or recovery. The hospital stay was as comfortable as possible with the nurses and doctors checking in on you frequently. They seem to make sure you are there a minimum amount of time and will discharge you when you are stable. I had a very complex case due to my age (42), extreme depth and asymmetry. I was discharged in 4 days and their standard is 3 days.
Overall, just a great team. Dr. J is a true expert with adult pectus patients. If you are over 25 years old and want a pectus repair this IS the place to go if you want the best chance of a successful operation and repair.
