Gundersen Lutheran is an extremely wonderful healthcare system! Every individual I spoke with--from financial assistants, to receptionists, to CNAs and nurses--was especially competent, helpful, and kind. My surgeon could not have done his work without such an exceptional team alongside him. My family and I were treated with the utmost care and compassion every step of the way.
The day of surgery progressed without a hitch. The surgery ahead of me cancelled the night before and they were quick to call me to ask if I would like to move up my surgery time. I only experienced high levels of pain twice and was immediately attended to. Otherwise I was very comfortable and I attribute this to the high level of attention from the nursing staff. I rarely had to use the call light as someone was checking on me every 45 minutes or so. Communication between my care team and I was superb.
Gundersen added a beautiful new building onto their facility in January 2014, and this is where I went through preop, surgery, and recovery on the pediatric unit. The technology and building was impressive, but nothing spoke more loudly than the compassionate and wonderful staff.
