Dr. Klaus Schaarschmidt

I've been thinking about this procedure for a long time, and finally this year I decided to go through with it. In September 2017 I contacted Prof Schaarschmidt directly via email and his response was very quick. He explained everything and gave me the confidence necessary to schedule the surgery for November 2017. After I was admitted to the hospital he cam to my room to have a talk and check up on me. He was very kind, answered all my questions and explained the procedure in detail. After I woke up from the surgery he came to see me and removed my bandages for the first time to show me my new chest. He really is proud of his work and has every right to be. The results are better than I could ever have hoped for. I am now 2 weeks post-op and during the recovery period there was not a lot of pain. Some mobility is still to be regained, but other than that everything has been way better than expected.

For several years already I wanted to proceed to that surgery even though my family didnt want me to proceed due to my minor pectus case. I listened to them for few years but always felt uncomfortable having this hole in my chest so I decided to proceed and meet Dr Schaarschmidt in Berlin in May 2016 where I literally changed my mind and got scared so I didnt do the surgery. Its only in October 2017 that I finally did get my surgery done. I got to admit the pre-surgery is scary probably like all kind of surgery.
The post-surgery is harder than I though but once you get over the intensive care its a whole new life that you can start. Now its been over 2 weeks that the procedure was done and I am home, I can swim, move around without problem and work (If you have a stressful job like mine I recommend not to over do, my girlfriend literally keep shouting at me for that and I felt exhausted when I worked over 6 hours a day which is nothing).
I live in the US so the plane was a total of 11hours and its a pain but its only once.
Other than that Prof Schaarschmidt is probably the best surgeon in the world and he will be able to explain to you everything in details. He took the time to come few times after surgery to see how I was doing and to share some tips with me.
If you want to do that surgery than do not hesitate and move forward with it. Just dont go to your local surgeon just because its more convenient for you, use a real professional that knows what he is doing.

This surgery changed my life for the better. I do believe Prof. Schaarschmidt is by far one of the most skilled pectus surgeons worldwide. He is a very busy man, so getting proper hold of him can be a little challenging, but the correspondence and answers to all my important questions were given.

On September 1st 2017, i flew to Berlin to LITERALLY change my life ! I’m A 16 yo. Girl From Saudi Arabia who had pectus excavatum for like 5 years with about 5.8 Haller Index.
this year I discovered professor Klaus Schaarschmidt in this very website ! I saw all the positive reviews about him so i didn’t hesitate to pick him for my case.
On September 5 i had to go to the hospital and stay there because the next day will be the big day (and because they wanted to explain everything that i’m going to go through and do some x-rays).
On September 6 at 8 AM i was anesthetized for the surgery, at 12 PM i woke up to a whole new chest and a whole new life feeling better than ever ! Can’t forget to mention that the Professor was right next to me when i woke up which is a very nice thing from him to do, he’s honestly the most fun and humble person ever !
My Experience was very very good with him and the cosmetic result is MIND BLOWING, and about the pain i would seriously rate it 2 out of 10 ! Seriously nothing really painful at all which is really shocked me.
Always remember the key to success is to believe in yourself and that you CAN do it, because you really can, always remember that you should never be afraid to change your life, because it was honestly a decision that I’m extremely proud of and extremely happy that i made.

A life changing experience that I can happily talk about.
I developed pectus excavatum at the age of 12 and I noticed it when I was 14. That was the moment I started to worry about my physical apperance.
For 4 years I tried to fix my PE without a surgery.
Hundreds of hours of swimming and gym sessions didn’t make any difference. At 18 years old I started considering the surgery. I found on the internet that Dr  Schaarschmidt
